New York, NY – On February 27, 2025, join a thought-provoking and engaging panel discussion featuring influential Black creatives who are shaping the future of art, culture, and business. Shifting the Culture: The Journey of Black Creatives Who are Making an Impact on the Industry, moderated by renowned social justice advocate DeRay McKesson, will take place from 6 to 8 PM at the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre.
The event will feature three prominent panelists: Jackee de Lagarde, Malyia McNaughton, and Khary Simon. Meet the Speakers
DeRay McKesson – Executive Director of Campaign Zero and leader in the Black Lives Matter movement, McKesson will guide the conversation on social justice and creative activism.
Jackee de Lagarde – VP of Global Licensing at Kate Spade New York, de Lagarde has over 20 years of experience in business development and is recognized as a 2024 Crain's New York Business Notable Black Leader.
Malyia McNaughton – Founder of Made by Malyia, McNaughton is a jewelry designer known for her unique pieces worn by A-list celebrities.
Khary Simon – A creative director and founder of CRUSHfanzine, Simon works to reshape cultural narratives and inclusivity in the media and fashion industries.
Event Highlights
After the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to network during an alumni and student mixer, which will feature light refreshments and live music from student DJs at WFIT Radio Station. This is a chance for students, alumni, and creatives to connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships in a relaxed, creative atmosphere.
